Expo 2020 Dubai
Employer-side schedule assurance protecting a fixed opening date across highly interfaced packages.
Dubai, UAE · Jacobs Mace JV · AED 1.18B direct scope Project at a Glance
Expo 2020 Dubai was one of the largest events ever staged in the region — a vast, highly interfaced build programme with one defining characteristic: a fixed, globally announced opening date that could not move.
The controls challenge
When the deadline is immovable, schedule assurance becomes the central risk function. As Scheduling Manager within the Jacobs Mace JV, I provided Employer-side assurance and critical-path governance across interfaced packages — testing contractor programmes and reporting the honest position, not the comfortable one.
The insight
On a fixed-deadline programme, the most valuable thing controls offers is an uncomfortable truth delivered early. Assurance that only confirms the optimistic view is worse than none.
