A landmark mixed-use development in Dubai — a five-star hotel, serviced apartments and offices, together with the Palm Jebel Ali service tunnel.

The controls challenge

Mixed-use programmes combine different building types, fit-out standards and handover requirements under one completion drive. As Lead Planning Engineer with BAM International, I led baseline management, progress measurement, executive reporting and the recovery programmes needed to protect completion when elements came under pressure.

The insight

On mixed-use work, recovery is a recurring discipline, not a one-off event. A recovery plan is only worth the paper it’s on if the sequence and resources are genuinely deliverable.
