What Senior Management Actually Needs from Project Controls
Ask a board what they want from project controls and they rarely say 'more data' — yet that is what they usually get. The functions that earn a seat at the table do the opposite.
It is easy to mistake volume for rigour. A hundred-page pack feels thorough, but it simply moves the analysis onto the reader.
The three questions leaders actually ask
Are we going to finish on time and on budget — and if not, by how much? What could still go wrong, and who owns it? And what do you need me to decide? Everything controls produces should ladder up to those three.
Design reporting backwards
Start from the decision leadership faces, determine the answer it needs, then show only the evidence that supports it — detail available beneath, not in front. Credibility, built on delivering bad news early and plainly, is the whole asset.
